Choosing A Genre

The purpose of my research is to establish how Greek Life at Florida State University is a good thing and can be very beneficial to a student’s future. I think the best genres for me to compose in for this project are a video, video, twitter profile, and a flyer to an event. The video and twitter profile are what I am most excited about. In today’s modern world the quickest way to connect with people on a large scale is through social media. A creative video will capture people’s attention and get them interested in the topic I am talking about. There are three assumptions people around FSU Greek Life can make from it. The first is that they think it is bad and represents bad things, the second are the people who think it is a good aspect of college culture, the third group has no opinion and does not really care. The people I want to get involved with my research are the ones who do not think it is good and the ones who do not care about it. They are who I am targeting to try and who I am trying to persuade, or at least inform, with my research. I will connect with my audience by trying to be funny in my video while actually making serious points with my research. This will keep them entertained while also keeping them informed. I will also try to get their attention through twitter. Twitter is at the fingertips of almost every single person at this school, so it will make it easier to connect with a larger group of people. The flyer to an event will grab their attention and give a social aspect to the research. I will try to entice people to come to this with the promise of pizza and a good discussion on the topic where all opinions will be welcome and intelligent conversation will ensue. I honestly think the best way for me to connect with people will be a combination of a video and a twitter account. This opens up the possibility of connecting with a larger audience much easier. My favorite genre to compose in is visual representations of an argument. I think this bring a lot of creativity to the argument and will entice people to pay attention longer and be more interested in the actual topic.
