One of the genres I plan to create is a YouTube video explaining why I think Greek Life has a positive impact on students at Florida State University. This genre furthers the message of my paper by reaching out to my audience, college kids, on a platform that they access easily and quickly. YouTube offers a great tool to reach college kids because of how easily they can be shared and viewed. I will use ethos a lot in this paper and include interviews from our community service chair and our outside philanthropy chair. I will also try to add a little bit of pathos by appealing to people’s humor. The audience of this genre is different from that of the research paper because it is geared towards an audience that does not want or have the time to read my research paper, so in the video I will try to get my point across in a timely and fun manner. This will help spread the information quicker. The alternate genre that could take its place is a twitter account, however, I believe that these two genres actually would work very well together. By putting my video out on the twitter account, I will expose it to a larger amount of people in my audience. The sequencing part of Assembling a Multi Genre Project explains how every aspect of the project should prepare the audience for the next piece of the project. I plan sequence my genres by making a video on YouTube, which I will then put on the twitter page to try and appeal to the younger audience on a bigger scale. This will accumulate pubic curiosity about my topic, and will draw attention on campus to the flyers I will put up. This will hopefully help public awareness about the event in the flyer.
